Tang Lung Street
This is Tang Lung street in Causeway Bay. It is a favorite street of mine on Hong Kong island.
Tang Lung street is a sharp contrast to Russell Street which is just one street over. Russell street is where the popular Times Square mall is located. This small area will be jammed with people celebrating New Years Eve on Saturday.
In the evening tables come out on Tang Lung street and you are able to dine al fresco via dai pai dongs (food stalls). It’s a very local and fun thing to do. The seafood restaurants on Tang Lung Street are particularly well known.

There are some dai pai dongs near SoHo. I passed by one where they sold instant noodles in a tomato based soup with hotdogs. There was a line around the block for this one. And the clientele looked like ex-pats and tourists. They were taking money hand over fist in this operation. If that is what passes for cuisine, then I can be the Joel Robuchon of HK. This place happened to be across the street from another eatery that was famous for curried tripe and stuff like that.
I think I know the spot near Central that sells instant noodles in a tomato based soup. Mine didn’t have hot dogs in it thought.
