Loving the MTR
I love Hong Kong’s underground. In New York we refer to our trains as “subways”. Here in Hong Kong we call them the MTR. Hard to imagine Hong Kong without the MTR. My mother grew up in Hong Kong in the fifties without a MTR. There was greater reliance on the trams, and the Star Ferry then.
Hong Kongers depend on this inexpensive safe and reliable mode of transportation. The trains do get crowded in the mornings and during rush hours but being from New York this does not bother me.
I have to quickly shower and shave. I have to take the MTR to Lai King to get to a high school today to teach four classes.
